Abu Dhabi Racing Driver “Mohamed Al Mutawaa” To Contest In Germany And Spain Rallies In WRC 3 Category

  • Abu Dhabi driver seeks experience of competing on varied surfaces and weather conditions
  • Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi: Al Mutawaa proved himself and showed serious commitment towards our programme, he deserved this participation.

Mohamed Al Mutawaa has been handed a seat to drive at two rallies in the FIA World Rally Championship’s (WRC) feeder series, the WRC 3. Making the announcement today, Abu Dhabi Racing (ADR) said the 21-year-old Emirati would participate in the WRC 3 category in Germany (August 21-24) and Spain (October 24-26), enabling him to gain valuable experience of driving on different surfaces and weather conditions.

In Germany, Al Mutawaa will face three distinct types of stages – bumpy narrow Mosel vineyard roads, Baumholder military tracks with many different surfaces and the smooth country tests in Saarland over a distance of approximately 1,300 kilometres.

In October, Al Mutawaa will be tested on the only mixed surface round of the season in Spain where he will drive on both gravel and asphalt stages in the hills of Tarragona.

The opportunity to race in Germany and Spain comes as a fitting reward for Al Mutawaa following an excellent performance in the FIA Middle East Rally Championship (MERC) where he has recorded three consecutive victories with ADR’s programme, the Abu Dhabi Racing – Citroën Middle East Trophy.

In the current MERC season, the ADR driver triumphed in Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan in his Citroën DS3 R3 (2WD category).
“Al Mutawaa has proved himself with a disciplined drive in our “Abu Dhabi Racing – Citroën Middle East Trophy” programme and shown that he is dedicated to building a new UAE generation of rally drivers,” Said Sheikh Khalid bin Faisal Al Qassimi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Racing.

Al Mutawaa was delighted on being provided with this big opportunity, saying: “This is the opportunity I consider as a dream opportunity. I have to thank Sheikh Khalid bin Faisal Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Racing, on the grant provided for us through the program. I hope to use this opportunity to build my career in the right way and to raise the UAE flag high by representing ADR in the Middle East and the world.”
