You have all been cinematically familiar with one or more films from the Cities of Love franchise, starting from Paris, je t’aime (2006), followed by New York, I Love You (2008) then the less known Russian spinoff Moscow, I Love You (2010) and here it is the latest installment Rio, I Love You! The film trend gathers nearly a dozen of international prominent filmmakers to direct a series of short films set in the exotic Brazilian city of Rio de Janero with more than 30 actors and actresses exquisitely chosen to complete the cast. Using the big city as the main unifying character, the filmmakers will try, each with their own style, to focus on one aspect of life in Rio with many film stars, including Harvey Keitel, Emily Mortimer, Vincent Cassel, Jason Isaacs and many more. The film’s producer Emanuel Benbihy has completed an anthology film on Tbilisi, Georgia, and has been developing the “Cities of Love” series since 2000 via his Ever So Close banner to sell cities one-picture licenses. Benbihy is aiming to develop an online platform of city-driven cultural and social movements that will feature further more locations such as
Shanghai, Berlin, Taipei, Mexico City, Rotterdam, New Orleans, Mumbai, Jerusalem, Sydney and Tokyo.
