New initiative gives a unique insight into how theatre works
9th June 2014, Dubai, UAE: DUCTAC (Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre) have announced details of their first ever summer backstage camp. Taking place from the end of June members of the public can take part in a week-long course during which they will learn all about the different elements that make a theatre tick. Hosted by DUCTAC’s Technical Manager, Ian Ashton, the fun, hands-on camp will cover the basic elements of stage production, from lighting and sound to scenery rigging, fly systems and more.
Taking place alongside their long–established Kids Summer Art Camp, DUCTAC’s Summer Backstage Camp is aimed at those fourteen years and above, and camp members will work on the stage of DUCTAC’S 540-seat Centrepoint Theatre as well as backstage, in the wings and in the theatre’s technical booth.
At the end of the week camp members will receive a signed certificate stating that they have completed the camp plus an exclusive DUCTAC BACKSTAGE CREW t-shirt.
