Timeless, romantic, magical, and now… simply spectacular!
“The boy that never grew up” is coming to Abu Dhabi Summer Season.
Peter Pan, the famous boy from Neverland, will swoop into the emirate this August after Alchemy Project announced the latest show to add to the emirate-wide entertainment extravaganza.
Peter Pan, The Never Ending Story shows will be held at Al Raha Beach Theatre as part of the Summer Season, running emirate-wide from July 7 to September 11, and organised by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi).
The show, running from 31st August to 3rd September, is a mix of theatrical magic at its best, stunning illusions, circus, a blockbuster movie and a rock spectacular. Thirty-five actors, dancers, stunt people, acrobats and magicians from 10 different countries bring this timeless story to life.
A London home and library, buildings, vast green forests all appear, dissolve and miraculously re-appear before your eyes. Waterfalls cascade out of the sky and lush rivers wind across the stage. Shooting stars, dreamy sky-scapes and London rooftop scenes; pirates with cutlasses rampaging round rigging battling with the Lost Boys, bouncing and whirling and somersaulting through the air on bungees at heart-stopping heights.
‘Peter Pan, The Never Ending Story’ brings the timeless story to life in a show that you don’t simply watch but fully experience. As an audience member, you are a part of an immersive adventure.
The pure, simple sense of wonderment and magic which lies at the very heart of J.M. Barrie’s English classic comes alive ensuring that his stories will live on forever.
The original score from musical director Matt Dunkley (the soundtrack mastermind behind ‘Moulin Rouge’ and ‘The Pirates of the Caribbean’) features 16 classic songs, ranging from Robbie Williams to Rod Stewart, and from Supertramp to Puccini. Dunkley has worked with the likes of U2, Massive Attack and Tom Jones.
The director Luc Petit, blessed with an exceptional creative mind, worked on Cirque du Soleil shows for 10 years, in close collaboration with Franco Dragone, and conceived countless spectacles, such as the opening ceremony of Euro 2000 in Brussels, Belgium.
The artistic director is Geert Allaert, founder of Music Hall. With his company he produced high profile titles like ‘Cats’, ‘Les Misérables’ and ‘Phantom of the Opera’ in Belgium, and also conceived large-scale arena versions of classic operas, which have toured Europe. The choreography is the work of the brilliant and classically-trained Swiss Martino Muller.
