Last night, Max Mara celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Whitney’s new building and launch of the Whitney Bag Anniversary Edition with an intimate dinner. 70 guests including artists, supporters of the arts and friends of the brand joined Luigi Maramotti, Max Mara Chairman, for an elegant dinner, a preview of the Whitney Bag Anniversary Edition and an exclusive advance viewing of the Museum’s newest exhibition, Human Interest: Portraits from the Whitney’s Collection.
The Whitney Bag Anniversary Edition is inspired by a Sargent drawing of Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, the founder of the Museum, wearing a custom dress created by the legendary Léon Bakst. Maintaining the design essence of the original Whitney Bag (a collaboration with Renzo Piano Building Workshop), the Anniversary Edition is reimagined with the floral and leaf decorative motif found on the Bakst dress. With a limited edition of 400 created, the taupe colored Whitney Bag Anniversary Edition perfectly embodies the spirit of Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney’s clever style and Max Mara’s Italian craftsmanship.
Notable guests included Luigi Maramotti (Max Mara Chairman), Amy Adams*, Sarah Arison*, Deeda Blair, Zoe Buckman*, Alexandra Chemla*, Pippa Cohen,* Blythe Danner*, Laura de Gunzburg*, Sally Field*, Casey Fremont*, Jonah Freeman, Mary Frey, Nina Garcia*, K8 Hardy, Maria Giulia Maramotti*, Cornelia Guest, Sarah Hoover*, Flora Irving*, William Ivey Long, Roxanne Lowit, Deborah Kass*, Josephine Meckseper, Elizabeth Peabody, Tom Sachs, Susan Sarandon*, Mario Sorrenti, Giorgia Tordini, Tommy Tune, Stuart Uoo, William Wegman, Adam Weinberg, Arden Wohl*, Bellamy Young*, Bettina Zilkha*.
