Lucas Ossendrijver, Style Director for Lanvin Menswear, has created nuanced and inspired masculinity for Winter 2016 pre-collection accessories.
The range of shoes is varied. Each model is designed with a focus on reinvented luxury, to meet the needs of the Lanvin man. Similarly to the ready-to-wear collection where classic designs are invigorated by trendy touches, the classic, traditional shoes are bedecked with hipper elements. Derbies in black calfskin boast an elasticated tongue, Chelsea Boots are fastened with a simple buckle and low elegant boots enjoy a zigzag cut sole. The nomadic urban edge enters the world of luxury through precious and noble materials: embossed nubuck and python. And there is a new arrival in the accessories range, black Creepers as Derbies or Monk shoes, the front brilliant and plaited: daring yet classic.
The soles on all Lanvin shoes are hand-crafted. Some are vulcanised, a precise process carried out by hand which has become the signature of Lanvin’s men’s shoes. For the slip-on sneakers, this technical prowess is complemented by a wide range of colours and materials: animal jacquard, python, calfskin, spider embroidery.
The cross-training sneakers toy with the colour combinations so dear to Lucas Ossendrijver, demonstrating his talent for giving sportswear its well-deserved respectability. The fabrics are nods to the ready-to-wear collections: two-tone calfskin, striped nylon and floral print. They embrace this edgy modernism, particularly in the ankle-high version with its velcro fastening. Individuality and audacity are expressed with discreet touches of fluorescence covering the tongues and soles.
The same functional elegance is evident in the bags. The new backpack comes in soft calfskin and matt python as well as striped or printed nylon and shearling. The zip is broad and the many inside pockets are ideal for laptop and smartphone. Lucas Ossendrijver dresses the Lanvin man in a free, urban, connected and cosmopolitan masculinity. This nomadic roaming spirit never loses sight of novelty and attention to detail.
Super practical, the messenger-style Sailor bag gets a city-slicker makeover with its soft shape in the fashion house’s typical grain leather. For its part, the more classic briefcase boasts sharp and precise lines, perfectly at home in its timelessness.
Inspired by Latin American tribes, the jewellery is teeming with wolves and snakes, supplementing the offer of necklaces, tie pins and bracelets with foxes and spiders. Each animal is wrapped around its semi-precious stone with symbolic powers. In the image of each accessory in this pre-collection which celebrates independence so luxuriously, Lucas Ossendrijver reminds us that Lanvin elegance is all about passion and items we hold dear, keeping them with us all our lives.
