SATURDAY 5 MARCH 2016
Deep and woozy, the Claptone sound pairs theatre with tragedy, feel good vibes with acute melancholia and imbues each groove with a Rhodes laced funk, an organic string hook and myriad earthy elements. Claptone releases have been birthed on Germany’s influential Exploited label. In 2014 he released ‘Ghost feat. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’ and ‘United’, which made it to number 1 in the Beatport Deep House Release Charts. SATURDAY 19 MARCH 2016
Pional aka Miguel Barros is probably Spain’s best-kept secret when it gets to electronic music production. This young multi-instrumentalist that compulsively colors his tracks with his own vocals, first burst into the scene with a 12” on the Barcelona-based Hivern Discs, the label from his friend, the infamous John Talabot, unveiling a slo-mo disco anthem –“A Moot Point”- that aroused great interest. His last reference for the label, the unique house gem “We Have Been Waiting For You” proves, this producer is one of the talents to follow and already got championed from people like James Holden and Erol Alkan. Handcrafting a sound that explores house, deep textures or kraut influences relentlessly getting a special treatment, Pional’s three track “Last House On The Left EP“ for Permanent Vacation shows the great quality of this young producer.
LA FLEUR (SE)
Swedish-born, Berlin-based talent, La Fleur’s crowning achievements have included being hand-picked as the debut release artist for Whatpeopleplay’s influential inhouse label with Flowerhead Revisited, a coveted DJ residency with acclaimed Berlin club Watergate, a chart-topping first outing for their in-house label with the Nightflow EP, plus a session at the controls of Watergate’s acclaimed mix compilation series, becoming the #1 charted artist on Resident Advisor, a tour of the United States,first-time performances for Panorama Bar and Boiler Room, and the launch of her fashion capsule collection, Power Plant Elements. From the launch of her own label, Power Plant Records, and its smash debut EP Flowerhead, to her triumph at Sweden’s Grammy Awards equivalent, P3 Guld Awards, La Fleur has cemented a reputation as a unique multi-talent.
FREDERICK STONE (AE)
SATURDAY 2 APRIL 2016
MICHAEL MAYER (DE)
As a DJ, producer and remixer, Michael Mayer remains one of Germany’s core celebrities in dance music. It’s no secret that he spends his weekends traveling around the globe. It’s likely throughout his career he’s played in front of millions. Then, as a co-owner of Kompakt, he spends his weekdays deciding what will be released on the label and working with the label’s artists and overseeing Kompakt’s distribution wing – the home of over 50 record labels. Amazingly enough, he manages to sneak into the studio on occasion to produce his own music and remix the likes of Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Foals and Rufus Wainwright.
RUEDE HAGELSTEIN (DE)
His prime- track is released on the Berlin Freizeitglauben – Label where he is almost showing off his poppy side which he articulates further on the following “New Fresh EP” on Freundinnen Records. One could find his actual disco-electro sound on international label compilations like Output Records and Kitsune while his sound started to spin more and more around techno and house. That explains why soon a far more minimal outline for the dance floors: The Dog vs. Dog on Lebensfreude Records could be heard. Dj´s like Sven Väth or Michael Mayer gave credits and with his growing attention Ruede decided to professionalize his passion and learned the fundamentals of audioengeneering at the SAE-Institute. Since 2006 Ruede is playing as resident Dj in the Watergate Club in Berlin as well as in the Harpune in Düsseldorf and- along with his friend Fraenzen, has set up a studio they can call their own. Since 2007 he belongs to Upon You Records on which he entered with the “Ghostdriver” E. https://soundcloud.com/ruede
