“The simple act of paying attention can take you a long way.” – Keanu Reeve

Keanu Reeves’ first prevalent success was the role of “Ted Logan” in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure in 1989. At that very moment, he caught the world’s attention and the film shifted from being an ordinary time-travel movie to becoming a cultural phenomenon.

‘The whole aspect of cinema and film festivals should be a moment to come together and celebrate art and humanity. It would be a shame if there was such a divide.’ – Keanu Reeves

During his movie career, Reeves was involved in numerous forms of artistic expression. On the go as a musician for a period, he played bass guitar for the bands Dogstar and Becky. Acting onstage, he performed as Prince Hamlet for the Manitoba Theatre Centre’s production of Hamlet. He wrote the script for a picture book, Ode to Happiness, illustrated by Alexandra Grant. He has also produced a documentary, Side by Side, and directed the martial arts film Man of Tai Chi.

‘I mean, if you didn’t get it or if you didn’t feel like you enjoyed it, sometimes that experience can change.’ – Keanu Reeves

In 1994, Keanu Reeves became a key action star with the release of Speed (1994). Its success indicated an era of five years in which Reeves would star in low profile films, like Feeling Minnesota (1996) and The Last Time I Committed Suicide (1997), and main films like A Walk in the Clouds (1995) and The Devil’s Advocate (1997).
After all this, Reeves passed on the Speed sequel, but he came into contact with box-office gold again a few years later with the Wachowski siblings’ cyberadventure, The Matrix (1999).

‘Grief changes shape, but it never ends.’
Keanu Reeves’ relationships, hard human experiences, and late girlfriend’s death left him dealing with the main issues in life, beyond Hollywood’s cams and lenses. To Keanu Reeves, life unfolded leaving him facing the big questions of being. Besides his rescheduling to his shooting back-to-back Matrix sequels, Keanu’s ultimate occurrences left him grounded, with his own philosophy and contemplations about life. “When the people you love are gone, you’re alone,” he stated. Moreover, to him, “Falling in love and having a relationship are two different things.”

Hollywood Walk of Fame
