Abu Dhabi – December 10th, 2015 – Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana in collaboration with Abu Dhabi centre for special needs people organized a two day workshop to raise awareness about people with disabilities, give back to the community and spend time with children.

During these two days all the volunteers and the girls from the Abu Dhabi centre for special needs people accompanied by their teachers made some amazing candles, colorful bracelets, traditional Arabic dresses and small pieces of textile to be used in many different ways. Divided into 4 workshops, the days were filled with laughter and hard work. All the participants and guests were amazed by the skills and the level of enthusiasm the girls showed. Employees from Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana and other volunteers tried to keep up with the children, and joined them in making of the items as well.

“Corporate social responsibility is an integral and crucial part of the Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana’s values. One of our main motivators is our community and assisting those in need. We are delighted to interact again with the Abu Dhabi Centre and their children, the workshops were truly an amazing and rewarding experience. We will make sure to continue and intensify our charitable campaigns in the future.” Said Eleni Tsolakou, General Manager at Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana.

December is an important month in the UAE with many festivities as the UAE National Day, being one of the biggest and most important ones with celebrations to mark this great day across the country. The two day workshops organized in the hotel was definitely an opportunity to support a great cause, spend time with gifted UAE children and give back in a true December spirit.

With their working stations spread around the hotel Lobby the children showed a lot of creativity and hard work. Every child deserves the same rights and care, and by watching them during the two days in Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana they showed true “Ability, not disability!”

Additionally, items made by the children from the center were brought and sold for the duration of the workshops. Out of many items sold, the biggest success were definitely the Mubkhara – used to burn the Arabic incense, Baskets for dates, Mesbaha – used for decoration, Medaliah – the key chain, Bracelets, Sheila – the hair covers, coin pouches, table cloths with Moroccan design, Jalabiya – lady dresses, mobile cases and bed sheets. It is really amazing how gifted all of those children are, and big recognitions go to the Abu Dhabi centre for special needs people for giving them the opportunity to grow and express themselves on a daily basis.

Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana’s employees and all the guests went home feeling proud and blissful because they had the opportunity to do something different for the most meaningful of causes ever – children’s smile and happiness.
