Abu Dhabi, UAE – 19 October 2015: Yas Mall brought to its visitors an exceptional experience this week, having hosted the first Fashion Week in the capital, which ran from the 14th-18th October. Throughout the five days, 13 global fashion brands showcased their latest collections for the Autumn/Winter season.
Town Square, the Middle East’s largest naturally-lit enclosed gathering space, was packed with fashion influencers and VIP guests. The runway was graced with the latest European trends, Parisian labels Weill and Sonia by Sonia by Sonia Rykiel, as well as Munich-based fashion house Laurèl.
Day two welcomed the UK’s leading department store, Debenhams, to the Town Square catwalk. The most memorable moment was the introduction Savannah Miller’s womenswear line, Nine, for the first time in the Middle East. The British-born fashion designer’s looks are versatile and ageless, combining luxury textiles with subtle prints and vintage embellishment. Among the trend setters in attendance was famous female Emirati icon Taim Al Falasi.
Yas Mall’s third day of Fashion Week brought one of the best known department store names on the UK high street, House of Fraser. The popular chain is only available in two locations in the United Arab Emirates and Yas Mall is host to one of these well-known British department stores.
A number of international renowned labels were showcasing their looks on the fourth day of Yas Mall Fashion week, including British luxury clothing retail company, Ted Baker, French classic womenswear designer BCBGMAXAZRIA as well as Gerard Darel and Promod. Witnessing these fabulous designs strut down the runway was influential Kuwaiti fashionista Fouz Alfahad.
On the final day of Yas Mall Fashion Week, there were a couple of standout moments that stole the show including Juicy Couture’s debut of their Abaya to the brand’s Middles Eastern customers. The collection mixes the traditional authentic Arabic style Abaya designs with the signature Juicy Couture glam of gold pipping and embellishments. Additionally, Morgen de Toi’s runway show collection highlighted the pop spirit of the sixties and the Bohemian atmosphere of the seventies. Spanish label HOSS also displayed stunning looks, embracing three inspiring trends in their collection, bohemian, mix & play and tweed & tartan.
The closing runway show of the week was a glamourous display of luxury evening gowns from the Spanish label Esposa, with a stunning finale that included a surprise beautiful wedding dress. The VIP guest list that witnessed the final runway shows included television presenter and fashion expert, Joelle Mardinian seated in the front row.
