Majid Entertainment boosts the UAE presence at MIPCOM 2015 in France

Special participation of the Emirati company in the MIP Junior International Pitch


Abu Dhabi, October 8, 2015: Majid Entertainment, a subsidiary of the leading Abu Dhabi Media Company, received a warm welcome during the company’s participation at the recent MIPCOM in France. Held at Palais des Festivals in Cannes from 5 to 8 October 2015, MIPCOM is poised to be one of the largest entertainment content conventions in the world, where the latest programming and partnerships are showcased and signed by major players in the entertainment industry.


The participation of Majid Entertainment at MIPCOM comes in line with the strategic vision of Abu Dhabi Media in adopting key initiatives that support the evolution of the UAE’s media industry and overall development plans. H.E. Mohamed Ebraheem Al Mahmood, Chairman and Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Media said, “We are very delighted to be part of MIPCOM this year as it represents an ideal platform for Majid Entertainment to present its latest innovative credentials and expertise in the Arabic kids content development industry, targeting a wide base of audiences regionally and internationally.”


Majid Entertainment, the company behind the successful launch of Majid TV in the region, took part of this year’s edition at MIPCOM to showcase the innovative credentials of the recently launched Majid TV, the leading edu-tainment channel for children’s entertainment and informative content in the Middle East. Showcasing its vast experience in the Arabic TV content production for kids, the Emirati company was presented as one of the key sponsors of this year’s MIPCOM, and had a special participation within the MIP Junior International Pitch panel in assessing and judging the final applicants for this category, led by Principle Panellist, Mohamed Yehya, General Manager of Majid Entertainment


Among the five finalists was a picture book adapted animation titled ‘The Boy Who Switched off The Sun’ by Fourth Wall Creative that was chosen from a selection of over 100 projects by Majid Entertainment executives through the MIP Junior Digital Library. The winning entry was chosen during a session moderated by author and consultant Christophe Erbes.


Commenting on their participation, Mohamad Yehya, General Manager of Majid Entertainment said, “We’ve been impressed with the quality and imagination of this year’s finalists. It was a very difficult decision in selecting the winner and I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate all our finalists for their animations.”


Yehya also confirmed Majid Entertainment’s commitment as sponsor for the next three years and continued: “With the launch of Majid Kids TV behind us, we now have an ongoing responsibility to find the most creative and imaginative animators in helping us to produce a versatile, entertaining and educational range of content for our viewers. MIPCOM visitors were able to learn about the latest global industry trends including Majid Entertainment’s various live programs such as Ana Zahra Junior, Rehla, Risha and Fodhouli and other company initiatives. Majid Entertainment welcomed visitors at the company’s stand in MIPCOM, at Les Palais Des Festivales, P-1, L.68.
