2015: As the face of conscious, visionary cosmetics for more than 140 years, global beauty brand Shiseido has devoted just as much time to the study of beauty as wellbeing. And proving that no less consideration goes into the selection of its partners and brand ambassadors, the beauty giant recently named Dubai-based, Lebanese fashion designer Aiisha Ramadan as its new face for the Middle East Region.
“I’m completely honored to represent a brand with such a legacy and reputation for excellence and creativity is a gift,” Aiisha said. “We’re both in the business of making women feel and look their most beautiful.”
Much like Shiseido’s early beginnings, Ramadan—a young, ambitious entrepreneur and creative professional—found herself devoted to an art equally inspired by the traditional glamour of her native Middle East and the contemporary influences of the West. Presented with the prestigious Swarovski “Young Designer of the Year Award” in 2000 while still a university fashion student, Aiisha Ramadan made her projected path very clear—for her, success would follow discipline and passionate devotion. In 2011, following her great Fashion achievements which had reached an Asian level, Aiisha was awarded the Gr8! Women Awards first edition in the UAE, which celebrated women’s beauty and strength while promoting breast-cancer awareness. Two years later, after gaining recognition for her high-end ready to wear collections and couture pieces, she was nominated as “Woman of the Year” at the Emirates Women Awards.
Mohamad Al Khalil, General Manager of Shiseido Middle East, said: “Shiseido stands for innovation and beauty—tangible contributions, as well as artistic elevation of the abstract. We felt that Aiisha as an influential fashion designer and artist, someone also devoted to beauty and innovation in her craft, reflects Shiseido’s ideals and can therefore naturally represent them as a brand ambassador. We believe it’s a beautiful match.”
As imaginative pioneers devoted to their art and science, the collaboration of Shiseido and Aiisha Ramadan proves once again that merging the traditions and knowledge of East and West genuinely brings the two worlds together, for the better and the more beautiful.
