Who can ever forget the fantastic exotic Rio? Bursting with color and rippling with samba rhythms, the animation was so wonderful, it made us wonder why animated films haven’t spent more time in Brazil! Well the adventures start again with Rio 2 when Blu, Jewel and their three kids are living the perfect domesticated life in the magical city of Rio de Janeiro and Jewel decides the kids need to learn to live like real birds! She insists the family venture into the Amazon and as Blu tries to fit in with his new neighbors, he worries he may lose Jewel and the kids to the call of the wild. That’s not all, as he goes beak-to-beak with the vengeful Nigel, he meets the most fearsome adversary of all: his father-in-law.
Let me tell you one thing, the voice talents are amazing. The wonderful macaw couple, Jesse Eisenberg as Blu and Anne Hathaway as Jewel, are back, along with Jamie Foxx as the streetwise canary Nico, George Lopez as the paternal hilarious toucan Rafael, and introducing Bruno Mars himself voicing Roberto as Jewel’s childhood friend! On the sequel’s soundtrack, Hathaway reveals, “The music from the first one really set a high bar. They’ve blown the sky open with this one.” Jamie Foxx adds, “Every time you hear those drums, you know something fantastic and magical is going to happen.”

There are roughly 150 Spix’s Macaws left in existence of that species, most of which are kept in captivity around other parts of the world.
