Fashion Forward Evolves for Season Five

Introducing Enhanced Retail Space, Designer Presentations and ‘FFWD At d3’


Fashion Forward (FFWD), the region’s definitive fashion platform, brings an evolved programme introducing several new elements for Season Five, which takes place from 10th-13th April.


The FFWD team has worked to further address the needs of the growing regional fashion industry, as well as looking at trends from international fashion events to enhance the hugely successful format, which has seen the event grow to be the region’s most respected fashion platform, showcasing the best ready to wear and couture designers from the region.


FFWD Season Five will commence on 10th April with an opening party and networking events, followed by two full days of programming at the Madinat Jumeirah from the 11th-12th April, comprising of catwalk presentations, the retail space – The Garden – and industry presentations and panel discussions – the ‘d3 Fashion Talks’.


On April 13th there will be by invitation only event for industry professionals, ‘FFWD at d3’ held on site at Dubai Design District (d3). The day will comprise of industry-focused events including a panel discussion, networking events and a showroom area for the designers to display their collections to a targeted audience of buyers, retailers and industry experts.


To further meet the needs of all designers showing at FFWD, this season the hugely successful retail space – The Garden – will be extended to house apparel as well as accessories. For the first time, designers who are showing on the Season Five catwalks will also be able to sell on season pieces directly to consumers.


Having housed regional accessories designers at FFWD since Season Two, The Garden is a retail space within FFWD which allows buyers and guests to purchase original pieces of Middle Eastern fashion. Opening this commercial opportunity to designers showing on the runways offers an opportunity for all participating designers to have a physical retail space on site, to sell their on season stock.


“Extending The Garden to our catwalk designers is a big step in driving the commercial aspect of FFWD,” said Bong Guerrero, Founder and CEO of FFWD. “Guests will be able to watch next season’s trends live on the runway, then visit The Garden to buy this season’s looks from their favourite designers.”


Also new for Season Five, and in line with global trends and international fashion weeks, FFWD will showcase a selection of designers’ collections through a series of presentations, in addition to the schedule of catwalk shows at The Madinat Jumeirah. The presentations will see designers’ collections showcased statically on live models in a dedicated space for buyers, media and guests.


“The fashion industry here in the region, and globally, is seeing some interesting shifts and patterns,’ added Guerrero. “FFWD exists for our designers and to offer the ready to wear and couture talent from the region the best platform to showcase their work to an increasingly international audience. We listened to the needs of the designers, and as a result we have added in the presentations to allow designers to show their work in an alternative way to the catwalk.”
