“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
– F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby –
Time for Rejuvenation
Spring is the time of renewal, turnover, and the celebration of the earth’s resplendent glory. As designers unveil their latest collections, distorted floral patterns and pastels seem to flood the runways, with feminine color palettes offset by masculine silhouettes. In the age of technological development, a salute to nature’s beauty is a grounding force for mankind.
Men’s Collection- Spring-Summer 2015
In their Spring-Summer 2015 collection, Kenzo pays homage to the millions of Parisian men whose way of dressing has over time, inspired the masses. A square loose silhouette offers a sense of ease and provides a sleek contrast to the formality of construction, apparent in some of the more classic tailored pieces. The color palette is akin to the contents of a box of macarons-pastels in pink, mint, tobacco, and sky blue are at their most apparent in the monochrome city footwear which recalls French cyclists
Kenzo’s Resort 2015 collection pays homage to the refined signatures of the classic French Woman’s wardrobe. Staples such as Navy Breton Stripe, Girl’s Chemise and Cabans are exaggerated, modified and graphically enhanced. Volumized cross pleats, notch detailing, and shifted proportions create a silhouette reminiscent of Parisian daywear. Bold, gilded hardware uttered on coats, sailor pants and jackets gush with Gallic gusto.
