RUNNING YOUR WAY OUT OF THE HOLIDAYS!

Not gaining weight during the festive season is a bit hard to do. Maintaining a regular running schedule is hard enough, but throw in some get-togethers, food preparation, out-of-town invitees, and other holiday foolishness, and it may seem near inexcusable to find time for running. Still… you need to make sure to stick to your own decisions.

1. CHALLEN GE THE CO LD WEAT HER

Running can actually be amusing and entertaining in the cooler weather, as long as you’re prepared with the right winter running clothes.

2. SCHEDULE YOUR RUNS

Keep running on your priority list. Write down your running schedule just like you would do for other appointments, and stick to it. You will be more likely to get them done.

3. BE PRE PARED

Be it a cardio workout by running up and down the stairs or warming up with some exercises at home, you’d better get yourself prepared for the new era of exercising outdoor.

4. DON ’T SKI P BREAK FAST

Don’t make the mistake of skipping breakfast. Even though you think you’re saving calories for later, not having a healthy breakfast may lead you to overeating later in the day.

5. BE FLEXIBLE WIT H YOUR SC HEDULE

As your days may get busier, you might need to make some changes to your regular running routine. If you have a holiday party at night, wake up early and run!

6. TIME COUNTS!

Remember that a 20-minute run is better than no run at all. Don’t miss out on your run because you have no time to exercise. Even a short run on the treadmill helps you maintain your running habit throughout the holidays.

7. KEE P YOUR EYE ON YOUR WATER BOTTLE…

Whenever you grab a delicious juice or drink during the holiday season, keep an eye on your bottle of water! Always remember to meet your daily water target per day –it should be up to 2 liters usually.

8. EAT SMALL PORTIONS

Even when you are invited to a dinner –not to say especially when you are. Stick to fiber as it helps you feel fuller for a longer period of time.

9. TREAT YOURSELF

That new pair of running tights or some new running gear… Why not? It’s the holiday season after all!

10. GET YOUR FRIENDS TO JOIN YOU

You may have to run a slower pace, but sometimes, the company makes all the difference. Get a race pal and you will be happy to run. You wouldn’t feel more alive than you are at the time being. Persistence is a matter of passion.
