Only three days until the Capital’s biggest dance festival Creamfields Abu Dhabi 2014 makes its triumphant return. Now in its sixth year, Creamfields Abu Dhabi has created unmatched performances with some of the best names electronic dance, trance and techno.
This year Creamfields Abu Dhabi welcomes multiple-award winning and hugely popular, Electric Days at the du Arena, Yas Island. UAE’s top electronic dance music nights Electric Days will be hosting DJs: Pro-Moe, Amy Wells, Jacob Bailey and Miss P.M. at the Electric Days tent.
Devotees of Electric days are in for a double treat this December 12th, with their favourite Electric Days set up in the heart of the UAE’s best and biggest party – Creamfields Abu Dhabi.
Ahead of the monumental party, we take a look at the memorable past Creamfields performances:
2009 – Underworld
The inaugural Creamfields Abu Dhabi, held at Emirates Palace, welcomed dance royalty Underworld to set the tone for more than half a decade of sensational Creamfields action in the UAE capital. The UK group delivered a set packed with their own hits and those of others as they put on a show the likes of which had never been seen before in the Emirates. Crowning moment: Born Slippy is performed live in the UAE for the first time
2010 – Afrojack
Following a smash first year, Creamfields returned in 2009. Dutch house guru Afrojack made his UAE debut in front of a crowd of 10,000 at du Arena. The DJ used his Abu Dhabi date as a platform for future success including global fame and a Grammy award. Afrojack is now set to return as a headline act for the sixth year of Creamfields Abu Dhabi.
2011 – deadmau5 and Slam
The first ever two-day Creamfields Abu Dhabi brought thousands of dance music lovers with an all-star lineup, including the best of popular and the best of niche dance music. Dubstep met drum’n’bass when deadmau5 took to the stage in the capital with a bone shattering show. It closed off a special weekend which also welcomed Scottish techno pioneers Slam. Well known as the guys that discovered Daft Punk, Slam’s UAE show was a watershed moment for techno in the Middle East. Never before had such an influential group within the genre taking to the stage in Abu Dhabi to deliver a very Postive Education.
2012 – Armin van Buuren
Making a massive return to Abu Dhabi as Yasalam’s Friday After-Race Concert, the king of trance brought the night to a frenzied close for Creamfields 2012. Playing crowd favourites such as Dash Berlin’s Waiting and Nadia Ali’s Feels So Good among many of his hit tracks, the crowds were in no doubt they were watching a master at work in what wsa one of the UAE’s defining music moments.
2013: The Prodigy
Representing the foundation of electronica, The Prodigy’s closing set of Creamfields 2014 was in a word – awesome. Kicking off with their 1994 break-beat-heavy EP Voodoo People, Keith Flint and co got the old-school ravers on their feet pogo-ing around the arena to a 20-track set list that included Breathe, Firestarter, and Spitfast, finally concluding with a knock out performance of Out of Space, delivering a performance that festival memories are made of.
The 2014 talents are more than ready to fill their predecessors’ shoes to deliver eight hours of non-stop entertainment. Headlined by the world’s No.1 DJ (DJ Mag Top 100) Hardwell, return fan-favourite Afrojack; Swedish techno maverick and musical genius – Adam Beyer; and Italian global ambassador of techno – Marco Carola, the unmatched sixth year of Creamfields Abu Dhabi is set to be the UAE’s dance highlight of the year.
Regional and local talent create the backbone of Creamfields Abu Dhabi and this year is no different showcasing Lebanon’s finest, maDJam, who makes his sixth appearance at this dance party extravaganza along with fellow Lebanese DJs Ronin & Nesta; Saudi-Turkish DJ, producer, remixer and MTV Europe Award Nominee – Omar Basaad, adds an even more regional flavour while UAE house music stalwarts Mr. Mr., Genie and Stacktraxxx, Greg Gow, Arcade 82, and Smokingroove will keep the party going.
