Live on the Corniche activities have moved from East Plaza to West Plaza and Lagoon Beach, Abu Dhabi Corniche


FLASH Entertainment, organizers of Yasalam, the largest city-wide entertainment programme run by any race host city, today announces the final act to complete the non-stop musical line up of the UAE’s biggest free beach music festival, Volkswagen presents Beats on The Beach. American singer and producer Miguel will make his UAE debut and join multifaceted performer Jason Derulo, Bollywood talent Hard Kaur and Emirati favourite Ruwaida Al Mahrooqi.


For the first time ever in Abu Dhabi, the California native will bring his famed hits “Sure Thing”, “Do You…” and “Adorn” to the Corniche crowd on Friday, November 21st, in a free concert for music lovers of the UAE. 


The new act fits into an ever-growing line up of local, regional and global talent for Volkswagen Beats on the Beach. The performances, starting from Thursday November 20th until Saturday November 22nd, will include Filipino music star, Charice, who will team up with rapper Juicy J and Moroccan singing sensation Chada Hassoun and hip-hop artist Two Tone to kick off the weekend. 


Saturday, November 22nd, will see one of music’s most in-demand artists, Rita Ora and rising star singer-songwriter Tinashe, bring their chart smashing hits alongside celebrated Lebanese icon, Ragheb Alama and songstress Sabine to deliver a sensational finale to the Volkswagen Beats on the Beach celebrations.


Additionally on Friday, November 21st, dance fans are in for a treat with another exciting addition to the Live on the Corniche activities will be Closeup’s competition to find Dubai’s best urban dancers. Closeup has teamed up with Charles Makriss, Owner & choreographer of Makriss Dance Ministry and Nadja Issa, choreographer and Artistic Director of ‘Art in the Air’, to conduct the search for the dancers who will join the #SYNCDiN Crew. Auditions will be held in universities and public parks across UAE in the run up to the Live on the Corniche activities.  The top 20 dancers will be short listed and asked to form groups of up to 5 members and prepare a special performance which will be judged by Makriss and Issa at Volkswagen Beats on the Beach on November 21st. Five final winners will receive a cash prize of up to AED 10,000 and get a chance to attend a special dance workshop weekend in Beirut with Makriss.


Adding to the excitement Live on the Corniche will be the hugely popular F1 FanZone™: The world’s official F1 FanZone™. Allowing fans and spectators to feel the rush of the grand race with thrills and spills for motorsport enthusiasts of all ages, there’s plenty to keep the family entertained at the world’s largest and most diverse fan experience.


A new addition to the Yasalam festival, the Urban Art Zone, will be delivering a fresh level of creativity to the Corniche activities. The public can watch art come to life as old shipping containers and cars are transformed into live graffiti art, bringing the industrial heritage of Abu Dhabi into the creative world of Yasalam 2014. As part of Yasalam’s continued community outreach, the zone will also teach about upcycling and refurbishing furniture to help give back to the under-privileged in the community and offer fun and creative workshops for the whole family to enjoy.


The festival will kick off in the iconic, carnival-styled parade, Yasalam Opening Parade, with music and fancy dress costumes inspired by the big race and the worldwide host cities. The Yasalam parade will feature local school floats, a marching band and breath taking performers along the boardwalk of the Abu Dhabi Corniche with schools competing to win the Yasalam trophy for the best float design.


Also set to take place on the Corniche will be the first-ever Get Driver Fit Obstacle Course which will not only be the grand finale of the gruelling 10 week fitness program, but also welcome all fitness enthusiasts giving them an opportunity to try their skills manoeuvring through sets of obstacles, custom-made on the beach for the Yasalam festival. The obstacle course will be open from 13th to 15th November and offer exciting prizes for participants.

The race will be held at Yas Marina Circuit from Thursday November 20th to Sunday November 23rd. Tickets to the race can be purchased from, 800 YAS (927), Virgin Megastores and Etihad Airways Shops.
