Sketching for Life: 43 Paintings in 43 Days

Once again, the challenge has been accepted. 43 days, 43 paintings, 43 leaders, and 43 years of the Spirit of the Union.

In lieu of the 43rd National day of the United Arab Emirates, Esmi Pangilinan, a manual artist, challenges himself to create 43 masterpieces depicting the different leaders of the nation. After a successful completion of this challenge last year, Esmi gives back, once again, to the country he considers his second home.

Esmi stuck with this modern art style coined “Spontaneous Realism” in completing the 43 stroke-of-genius. Last year, chalk pastels was his sole material to make these colorful portraitures but this year, to diversify the look of his artworks, acrylic paint is used. His portraitures manifests explosion of colors combined to form the image of leadership, honor, and integrity.

Despite his heavy work load as a creative director in a marketing consultancy company, as an owner of his own firm, and as a father and husband, he unquestionably finds time to marvelously create these art pieces every single day.

His last year’s 42 art pieces as part of his contribution to the 42nd National Day are currently housed in the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) after being exhibited for audiences’ viewing in World Trade Centre Mall.
